Rodriguez’s father instilled his passion for baseball at a young age. Rodriguez Sr. was a baseball player himself and played for the Dominican Republic.

Rodriguez started playing baseball while studying at school. In particular, he played for the Westminster Christian School team. His game and technique were incomparable. He achieved tremendous success, while still a student at the school. Rodriguez became the first high school student to struggle for a place on the United States national baseball team. By the end of the 1990s, he had become the best and most popular player in the country.

The career of the baseball player

Rodriguez was selected first overall by the Seattle Mariners in 1993. He was accepted into the team literally right after graduation from high school. He signed his first contract worth more than 1.3 million dollars. He managed to quickly gain authority in the baseball community. He earned his first selection in the All-Star Game in 1996 and won the American League championship in 1996 and 1998.

Rodriguez’s authority and demand have only grown over the years. At the beginning of the 21st century, he signed another contract with a new baseball team, the Texas Rangers. The contract amount was staggering, more than 250 million dollars. At the time, it was the most expensive contract in baseball history. Rodriguez led the Texas Rangers team to triumph, winning several All-Star Games. In addition, due to his successful game, he won the title of  Most Valuable Player.

A new chapter in Rodriguez’s history began in 2004. Back then he became part of the New York Yankees baseball team. Rodriguez also brought huge success to this team, with the All-Star Game awards, as well as winning the World Series in 2009.

Scandals and suspension from the baseball game

While playing for the New York Yankees, there was a scandal with Rodriguez. In particular, the reason was the use of steroids, a growth hormone, which he injected in the city’s anti-aging clinic. Therefore, in 2014, he was suspended for violating league rules for the entire season.

After the exclusion, Rodriguez was able to return to the game with his team only in 2015. But a year later, he decided to officially leave baseball. Rodriguez finished his career with nearly 700 home runs, taking fourth place on the all-time home run list.

Outside the game, Rodriguez began active commercial and philanthropic activities. For some time he worked as a commentator on American sports channels.

Alex Rodriguez’s baseball career is one of the most impressive. He was an outstanding player from a young age and continued to perform well throughout his career. Although his tenure with the New York Yankees was controversial, he remains one of the most distinguished players of all time and a true baseball star. He ranks fourth place on the all-time home run list and is second to only Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth. Despite the many disputes surrounding his career, there is no denying that Rodriguez was one of the most talented and effective players in baseball history.
